What is the cost of being a part of the TasteBuds Guide?

What are the benefits of buying local?
Buying local allows you to support your local economy and support the farms in your area.

What is a CSA?
CSA stands for community supported agriculture. From late spring to early autumn, members of a CSA will be able to pick up a weekly shipment of produce from a local farm or a pick-up point around town.

How can I get involved with a CSA?
To get involved with CSA you will need to contact your farm of choice to determine if they have CSA and what there criteria’s are because every farm is different.

What constitutes organic?
Organic produce is grown without the aid of synthetic pesticide and fertilizer products. The USDA heavily regulates all organic products. Conventional farms use synthetic pesticide and fertilizer products, although in most cases it is sparingly as they are small scale farming operations.

What is sustainable agriculture?
Sustainable agriculture seeks to lower environmental impact of farming by rotating crops to enrich the soil, utilizing little or no synthetic pesticide and fertilizer products and reducing air pollution created through long distance shipping by working as local as possible.

Can I visit the farms listed in the guide?
Most of the farms are open to the public, but may require for you to call ahead. Check the map & directory for contact information for each farm.
